Bank Farm
The Wanstall family have been farming at Bank Farm since 1918. The farm is run as a mixed agricultural regime, with sheep, arable crops and Free Range hens. Our hens enjoy the freedom to run around in the Kent countryside, free of danger from predators.
We do not use antibiotics in our feed, and where possible we use homeopathic remedies to cure any ailments our hens may have. The business is run with the mission to produce safe and wholesome food in a way that encompasses and enhances the local environment and earns the confidence and respect of our neighbours and customers. To this end we have embarked on many schemes to plant new hedgerows, establish a wetland area to promote the habitats for wading birds and much tree planting. One of our latest projects is to build otter Holts and Kingfisher nesting holes in the banks of the river Stour with the help of the volunteers from the River Stour project.
We have taken land out of arable production alongside
sensitive environmental areas, such as waterways, woodland and hedges. All of this work is being carried out in order that we can demonstrate that modern, efficient agriculture can work in harmony with the environment, rather than at the expense of it. In 2001 we were launched as a LEAF demonstration farm and will be welcoming visitors to the farm in order that you can see for yourselves what we are doing, and to see the future of food production. We have been in Free Range Egg production for the last four years and have built up quite a reputation for providing an excellent service and product. Our Free-Range Eggs are in accordance with Freedom Food and are RSPCA monitored.
